What To Do

Ever-escalating tension between us
Sadness and woe when we're together
What wedged us away from each other?
More tears, anger, disgusting fuss

What to do when all arrows are pointing, blinking
Pushing us down the path of separation
A fork in the road and you disappear from view
As your hand slips out of my grasp, where's my explanation?

I know that communication is supposed to be key
But nothing's more telling than an awkward pause
Who's at fault for this? What's the cause?
The knot loosens, the strings pull taught, "Help!" they plea

What to do when all arrows are pointing, blinking
Pushing us down the path of separation
A fork in the road and you disappear from view
As your hand slips out of my grasp, where's my explanation?

Love so true that faded dark so fast
Clouded over with pain and distress
This shouldn't be happening, I hate this mess
Why didn't the happiness last?

Your face hidden in the shadows
Twists and turns distort our love
Off the cliff I would tumble without you, God knows
Without you, I'll give my ball and chain a shove

What to do when all arrows are pointing, blinking
Pushing us down the path of separation
A fork in the road and you disappear from view
As your hand slips out of my grasp, where's my explanation?

Our pain lashes me with heartless cruelty
Only to be confined to my vitals
Contradicted by nothing but sorrowfilled recitals
As I clutch my chest, keeling, hands bloody

What to do when all arrows are pointing, blinking
Pushing us down the path of separation
A fork in the road and you disappear from view
As your hand slips out of my grasp, where's my explanation?
