A Prayer for the Concert Attendee

May your path be free of road construction and traffic jams
May you not be pulled over for speeding
For not using a turn signal
For running a red light
For following too closely
For crossing a median
For making a u-turn
For having illegally tinted windows
Or for making your own lane out of a shoulder

May you find a free parking spot close to the venue
May you not be parked in a tow-away zone
May you not get your belt taken away from you because it's a dangerous weapon

May you make new friends or meet up with old ones
May the merch be affordable
May your hands find the barricade
May you jump, clap, and raise your fists in the air as commanded by your band's leader
May you not get your camera or your cell phone taken away from you
May you not pass out in the pit
May you not be kicked out for supposedly pushing someone in the pit
May you be picked up if you fall down
May it not leave a mark if you get kicked in the head by a crowd surfer
May the drunk guy/girl who dances with you refrain from throwing up on you
May you refrain from throwing up on others if you are drinking
May those who are taller than you not obstruct your view of the stage

May your ears be ringing afterward
May your black eyeliner be smudged
May your clothes and hair be drenched in sweat
May you meet your favorite band member behind the venue and take a picture being silly with them
May you refrain from tying them up and taking a picture of them with a sign that reads, "I love (insert name)"
And may you safely reach your home/hotel room with some amazing memories to share
