Left Behind

Always last, an afterthought forever
Only invited as a last resort
Tagalongs are no longer welcome in this world
Just pushed aside, falling short

Left behind by the busy world
Friends and family zooming past
Where's my seat on the train of events?
"Out forever" says the sign uncurled

Every chance I get to escape the duldrums
Thwarted by one variable or another
Forever me, never you or anyone else
You the realist and I the pretender

Left behind by the busy world
Friends and family zooming past
Where's my seat on the train of events?
"Out forever" says the sign uncurled

Not even love can clear me a spot
Still alone while you are out having fun
All the times we could be together
"No", tears forever glisten

Left behind by the busy world
Friends and family zooming past
Where's my seat on the train of events?
"Out forever" says the sign uncurled

I'm tired of never being chosen
I wish I could just get over this, surrender
But hoplessness gets me nowhere
I want the experience with all it's splendor

Left behind by the busy world no more
Friends and family riding by my side
My newly refurbished seat on the train of events
Finally new thing I can explore
