These Are the Things

A lonely apple tree atop an overlooking hill
A city caressed by the sunset’s golden rays
Getting through it by none other than strength of will
Never leaving when no one else stays

Small children’s tears being wiped away with ease
Soft, colorful flowers as they sway in the relaxing breeze
Lazily rolling hills quietly teeming but shielded by trees
These are the things that are beautiful to me

A symphony of sound from an overture of three
An ever-changing river flowing between two snow-covered banks
A blind woman finally learning how to see
When life gives you nothing but you still fill in the blanks

Couples holding hands on Valentine’s Day
Ocean blue eyes you could notice from miles away
A graceful chestnut stallion’s powerful, confident bray
These things are beautiful, I say

Two performers dancing in perfect rhythm
Calling birds echoing each other’s un-translated words
Thoughts and emotions expressed in a creative poem
The sunset stained sky melding with the land, now a vizard

A park in the day’s glow filled with smiling faces
A once recluse finally going places
The way two soul mates fit together that no other replaces
These things are beautiful, something no one erases

Freshly mowed yards at the peak of spring
The way summer sun soaked hair shines in the light
The passionate opera of a woman who loves to sing
How stars shine even in the darkest of nights

Fog covered lakes in the morning so early
Good Samaritan helping unselfishly
A tall flag blowing in the wind, being free
These are the things that are beautiful to me
