The Glove

I made a resolution
For I needed a solution

I locked my heart and mind
And covered them with chains
I built an iron bar
So no one could lay claim
I took the right precautions
To defend myself from LOVE
But within a week it found me
Just like an old, lost GLOVE

It took me by the arm
And lifted me up high
I couldn't say a word
I couldn't even sigh

Finally, I thought
Let us soar in peace
But something in the air
Divided us and made a crease

The GLOVE slipped from my grip
And I began to fall
But just in time, I grabbed it
And my fall was stalled

I'm still barely holding on
Onto those leather covered fingers
But what will happen next
How much longer will this GLOVE linger?

I'm afraid to fall again
Once is quite enough
But never letting go
Might be twice as tough
