Innocence Kept Inside The Heart

Innocence kept inside the heart
String after string
It gets pulled apart

Once so naive
Now it's hard to bear
So hard to believe
That virtue ever exisisted there

It used to be about books
And how you got the grades
Now all that's left is empty looks
And how you're getting paid

From humor and fun
To alcohol and drugs
When someone asks you what you've done
You just give them endless shrugs

Lieing now is all that you know
For you can't distinguish the lies from the truth
You were once held high
Now you're stuck being low
Now your mind is in adulthood, when you should be enjoying your youth
