The Hearts of Many

The hearts of many, and their one truth.
There is a different kind of power,
One I cherish the most.
One that we wield every day,
But not enough.

The hearts of many, and their one hope.
That the rain will come,
And wash it away.
All the sorrow we've had,
All the heartbreak we bring.

I closed my eyes, and wondered what truth really was.

It was the life, the chalice,
That look in your eye.
It was the chance we never had,
To look up and say goodbye.

My heart, and it's one truth.
Relieved though it may be,
I remain cold.
So many ways that make me feel,
It's just not enough.

My heart, it's one hope.
That there will always be light,
At the end of the road.
At the end of it all,
I'm ready to fall.

I'm sorry now,
For all I've done.

It shone so bright, it felt so cold.
It cascaded slowly.
It was beautiful and bold.
You couldn't escape, the faith of many,
When so much had happened to you,
When you never wanted any.

I opened my eyes, and realized what truth was.

It was the hearts of many,
The hope that shines.
It was the hopes of many,
That stopped our decline.
