Christmas Eve Dinner
I was wandering around on Christmas eve,In the beautiful lit up New York City,
When I saw a child with her brother in tow.
I thought they were goin to play in Christmas snow.
So I stopped to watch them pass on by,
But I heard her say something and I started to cry...
"Momma's gonna wake up any moment now.
She's hungry and we don't have food to give her.
But maybe if you go ask a man in the store somehow,
We could maybe have a Christmas eve dinner."
And I saw the little boy, who looked only five,
He was trembling from the cold when he went inside.
And the little girl sat waiting,
You could tell she was anticipating,
The little boy came back out with no food at all.
She sighed as they moved on, to the next store inside the mall.
She told him again, "Momma's gonna wake up any moment now.
She's hungry and we don't have food to give her,
But maybe if you go ask a man in the store somehow,
We could maybe have a Christmas eve dinner."
I called for her to let me give her a dinner.
She smiled and said, "God bless you outside and inner."
I laughed and shook the little boy's hand.
Not yet six, but already a man.
I gave them all the money that was me.
And knew God, had made another miracle mystery.
When I heard, "Momma's gonna wake up any moment now.
She's hungry and we don't have food to give her.
But maybe if we hurry up to the grocery store,
We could by her gifts, and get a Christmas eve dinner."
