We Could Write a Symphony

A sparkle here a little glitter there
Strip them off pull it down
Bare, nude, divested, exposed
It’s not what you need
They glitter and glow
With crepuscular light
Ain’t it pretty? Don’t you want to be like them?
Secreting a radioactive green from each and every pore
Don’t it sound nice?
But you shine, flare, flash, illuminate
You bypass the glitter and show your own without
Dollar store glitter glue
Listen to me and sing my song
Move a little and find my impulse
My light
Dance with me and hear what I’m saying
Make music with me
Sure, they distract
Sequins and skin but you’ve got more
Uncovered, revealed, unprotected, naked
Peel away the glitter
Peel away the skin
And you still have a heart beating beneath
Your lungs move and you breathe
In, out; a rhythm
A beat
Step in time, feel it with me
Don’t shake inside your radiance
Just take my hand
Dance until we come in sync
Together for this fraction of time
Make music with me
