It Hurts to Laugh

Smile too long,
Smile too much,

Then it looks fake,
Plastic to the touch.

Cry to hard,
Cry too quick,

Then you'rewhiny, weak,
Youmake others sick.

Laugh too loud,
Laugh too long,

You're expressing joy,
You've done nothing wrong.

Don't mind that it looks forced,
You've could've done worse.

Does it hurt to laugh,
not because you laughed hard
But does it hurt to laugh
Because you've pulled the wrong card

Does it hurt to laugh,
Because you tried to sound real
Or does it hurt to laugh
When you laugh and can't feel.

When you're smile is made
Into a big grin
Do you think to yourself,
"Lying's a sin."

Did you think I wouldn't notice
Or maybe just forget
Maybe I'm a good actor too,
We all have our secrets.

I've written countless things,
All dedicated to you,
If you were here and read them,
What would you think or do?

Does it hurt to laugh,
Because you feel the opposite
Does it hurt to laugh,
Because you can't laugh yet.

It hurts to laugh

Along with you

When I know,

the sound of your laughter,

Isn't true.
