Because there's nothing I love more
Than a stairwell so empty
That they hear me drop my pen,
Scrambling to pick up
My self confidence
I dropped in the wake of your damn
Name.

And there's nothing
You hate more
Than the thought of me
And all my flaws
And my wrongdoings
Even though
You lie.

But this is the last time
That I will let you have me,

My body is mine
And the best part of me...
Was never you.

Mere memories flood your wake
And the spite rolls in like
Fog and thunder,
Mighty and frightening
With a deathly aftertaste
And a bittersweet pucker in the chin
Just for you.

I can't call you back if I try
No mere words, nor any letters
Will make it up to either of us
Not that I would try anymore
Because I've learned my lesson
And my place
Out of sight.

I swear it's the last time
That I will ever think of you.

My soul is not mine
And the worst part of me
Was always myself.
