City Slickers Don't Know What the Sky Looks Like
"Now is the hour of quittingTwilight paints the town
Old industrial skyline
How does the sun go down?
How does the sun go down?"
-from Quitting Time by The Roches
Between stained concrete and bricks
rusted fences and smog,
you might forget what the sky looks like.
Brittle brown weeds limping out of
filthy cracked pavement are
no substitution for soft green grass.
With neon lights and the mindless
blue-flicker-glow of thousands of televisions,
the Sun seems so antiquated, unecessary.
Is the constant frantic moving energy
inherent in the rush of City Living,
really enough to replace the real world?
