My Light

By the morning
I would have found a way
By the evening
You would have gone away
By the nighttime
I would have made you mine
But by the dawn
I had died

I could not see the moon anymore
The dark drops of my sorrow
Had stained it
Blocked it from view

You were the sun
My sun
To shine upon me
And dry up all my sadness
Until it cracked and crumbled
Into nothingness

You are the reason I smile
And will forever so
Until this life ends
And I am up high into the clouds
Where I know I will see you again

By the morning
I would have found a way
By the evening
You would have gone away
By the nighttime
I would have made you mine
But by the dawn
I had died
