Responsibility is Really an Excuse
I tell you I’m gone,Like a responsible girl would.
I tell you I’m home,
Like a responsible girl would.
I tell you ‘good night’,
Like a responsible girl would.
What I don’t tell you is that I cry,
Like a sensitive girl would.
I don’t tell you I lie,
Like an intelligent girl would.
I don’t tell you I hide,
Like a scared little girl would.
You don’t tell me the truth.
Like a young soul would.
You judge and curse,
Like an idiotic girl would.
You tell me you feel real,
As if the lie makes it feel good.
I don’t tell you the drugs and the horrors I’ve seen,
I don’t tell you the judgment and the unfair dreams.
I don’t tell you the lies or tragedies still,
I don’t trust you enough to know what is real.
