The Last Kiss

You used to tell me you loved me,
that we would always be together,
through thick and thin and whatever came our way,

You used to hold me close,
close enough to hear your heart beat next to mine,
You used to always tell me you would keep me safe,
that you would always be there to protect me,

But now your gone,
You left me here all alone,
with nothing but a memory of our last kiss,

As I came outside my door,
on that cold winter night,
you hugged me close,
as if you didn't want to let me go,
looked into my eyes,
then kissed me gently,
and as you kissed me,
the cold air outside and around me,
turned into warmth,

Then you turned and walked away,
Never looking back,
and I was cold,
because your love kept me warm
