Tell me this

A constant stream of many letters
Easing out into a scene
Of tragic loss and joyful heartbeats
Quivering and laughing fits

Tell me this
When you were born did you remember what to expect
Tell me this
When you will die will you recall what you forget

And thrilling words
And cheering animals
Could poise into attack
Haulted by a defect of memory loss

Tell me this
When you were born did you remember what to expect
Tell me this
When you will die will you recall what you forget

The losses of a creature
Quite different to yourself
Could take a different turn
With just a tiny glance

And tell me this
When you were born did you know the path you’ll take
And tell me this
When you will die you’ll confirm of your mistakes
