The Search For Happiness

Once upon a time, there was a woman who kept searching,
yet she did not know what her efforts were about to bring.
The woman looked everywhere, on top of high buildings and in low valleys.
Despite her efforts, she found nothing except barren trees.
Nothing that filled her with the curious wisdom she once felt long ago.
Her heart yearned to feel something, anything close that she could know.
Her search brought her to the gates of the Immortal.
There, she entered, and encountered many vicious beasts inside the portal.
They told her she would never make it, told her that she was weak,
they told her never to call upon the things of which they speak.
They said she'd never amount to anything, say she'd never win.
But then she met the one being that radiated beautiful sin.
His skin was a pure white, electric to the touch
His hair hung gently over his eye, she could have guessed as much
His eyes, a radiant blue , captured the emotion that was shown.
He sauntered over to where she stood and took her lips into his own.
"You're the only one who ever made me feel this way.
Made me feel wanted, loved, and perfectly happy just to stay.
My heart belongs to you and only you alone,
so join me in my darkest hour and let us make our love known."
These words the man spoke sounded as magnificent as a symphony.
It was all she could do to nod and completely agree.
"You make me feel the same way, you're the one I have searched for.
And now that I've found you I can live joyfully once more.
The two embraced and smiled, touching their cheeks intimately.
A gust of wind interrupted which was carrying flaming debris
The powerful wind grew and grew as flames began to catch.
They were carried on the moving flow and the couple was in their path.
"I don't want to lose you, you make my life complete"
The frightened girl whispered and grasped her lover's cheek.
The man held her tightly and sung softly in her ear
"I'll never let anything hurt you, ever, my dear."
As the flames, hot and striking, drew increasingly near,
the woman, who was so afraid ,shed a sultry tear.
Disaster overwhelmed them as they were swept into the inferno,
and during all of the bitter pain neither one of them let go.
And so the two remained together, forever entwined in death.
Their corpses still embracing with the sound of a final breath.
