Solder goes to war
The war I see is everywhereThere’s nowhere left to hide.
I try to find a happy place
The only place inside
I’ve been recruited to the war
My only fear comes true
I ask “Please don’t send me
My daughter’s turning two."
I go home to see my family
Though sad, they help me pack
With tears like waterfalls down each cheek
They pray that I come back
How much time will be spent gone?
I long to see the sun again
With deadly weapons causing deaths
I hope my life won’t end.
We march to keep our spirits up
We later even sang.
We float along like butterflies
Until we hear a bang!
I see the enemy and kill two or three
But from the side, I’m surprised with shock.
I clench my throat to stop the pain
And realize I’ve been shot
I close my eyes but death won’t come
I want it to be over with
The last I see, my wife’s eyes twinkle
I wish death were a myth
I pray to God for one last prayer
While I put death’s gun onto my head
I wish my family luck and love
And pull the trigger. DEAD!
