Seashell

Falling from the skies is exhilarating enough
To make me wish you were there to catch me
I don't know how you break into my thoughts
As I fall from the towers in ecstasy

I am far too tired to stay here any longer
My will has run out on me, locked away
In the dungeon of your fear, my love
I close my eyes for the last moment....

Rushing past my face is the air so full
Of memories from eternities ago
I send my tears to join the wind
In hopes that someday they will reach you

The waves below crash into the rocks
Much more gracefully than my body
Yet my blood becomes part of the water
I pray someday you'll drink

I am yours forever, never doubt
For though the curtains blow with the wiping wind
And though the window is stained with tears
I wish you to remember me a seashell, not a corpse

Sea spray, mermaids singing lullabies
The seashells called to me and so
I leapt from my sorrow to the river
That held their open arms

I wrote a letter to you darling
Though you'll never read it, I fear
For I wrote it in the water of my soul
Upon the stained glass windows

Love waits not for the willing
It calls upon the beaten, the broken
It comes gentle, like the stream and also
As the waves of the mighty ocean crashing on the sand.
