Ribboning Reds

You'll never love me again;
We'll never be what we've been.
These fears tear me to shreds,
My skin falls in ribboning reds.

But I still carry on,
Wake up to each dawn,
But I fall down each nigh,
Weary from the fight.

The fight to keep breathing
Despite my slowing heart's bleeding,
For the life that I can never cherish
Without the love that has since perished.
