friday night

"walk half way and then you die"
a joke not meant to say.
stop and stiff, stare at abiss.
as our minds turn into grey.
"repeat that sarah, say it again"
she blurted out at me.
I told her that i had said, "fly"
she seemed to have believed.
then the paranoia struck.
we stopped to look around.
seeing shadows, moving things,
and creeping in the sounds.
they screamed at me "call him now!,
get him to walk us home!"
I called him up, he whispered "what?"
then i told him on the phone,
"they wanted you to walk with us,
the girls are scared as shit"
he groaned, "do i have to now?
did the coffee make you sick?"
i said "come on! they think we'll die!"
he said "what did you do?"
i said nothing!" he said "okay,
to the pool is good for you?"
i said "whatever just hurry up"
he said "let me get my shoes.
"i said "okay, we'll be outside"
he said "see ya in a few"
as we walked back, we joked a bunch.
through the short cuts in the woods.
when the pool approached, the was a car.
we all just stoped and stood.
words like, "omg!" and "shit!"
were flowing through our heads.
the lights turned on and turned the corner.
our heartbeats all had sped.
"holy shit! turn and run!"
was all that was on my mind.
"wait dont go, see this house?
everybody get behind!"
everyones breathing slowed fell
as the car rolled slowing past.
we went to check if the coast was clear,
then we ran like mega fast.
no more roadside walking for us,
the woods are not my friend.
when we got home we went inside.
a tradgedy at end.
but then we saw the irony,
"walk half way then die"
then the car was so conveniently parked
at the pool, on the road, at the side.
the car sat exactly on the half way,
where is stood there, still, to wait.
if i had never said those words,
we might have faced our fate.
