Guardian Angel

Everyday I wake up to a broken heart
One I’ve tried to fix over and over again
I should’ve known it would fail, from the start
But still I persist on feeling one more time
I want to feel the sweat on my neck
And the wind against my finger tips
I want to feel the sun on my back
And the sand between my toes
But I know it will never work
My nerves have been burnt off
So instead I will lie in the dirt,
And wish for the rain to come down
When it does I won’t grab a raincoat,
I’ll just let every drop caress my body
It will wash away my blackened sorrows
The ones that put me in this turmoil
You’ll stand at the corner obscure,
While I dance to the thunder’s boom
But I won’t notice as you yearn
I’ll be lost in my own rejoice
You’ll yearn for my heart’s sacred love;
The one I give from the soul
It’s one that is undreamed of
But you’ve felt the warmth of its glow
You’ll wait for the angels to cry
For the one that they have lost
You’ll stare in awe when my wings unfold so I can fly
Going back to my heaven I’ve never deserved
Wait until that day comes into view
I’ll be waiting too, still numb
'Cause when that day comes I’ll feel again,
And love you
Just like a guardian angel should
I Promise
