My Kingdom, My Heart

Keep heralding heartbreak for painstaking years
Simple passing seconds, minutes, hours
Bring simple, passing tears.

Since I think of you constantly
I'll give you the time of day
But if your message is that you do not love me
Crumple it up and throw it away.

There it is, I need another distraction
Once again you rule your heart with your head
While you deliberate about my kingdom
I may as well go to bed.
All the things I want to think
Will be useless if they are said.

Despite tomfoolery and deceptive glances
I grant you a Queen's ransom of Second Chances
You keep knocking on my door
And I'll keep asking who you're knocking for.
