Forever with Holes

It is the difference between
the known, concrete facts
and what you can't ever know.
The line between these two
means everything.

The what happened, and
how it happened,
those are the easy, answerable questions.

but,
why? or
what was he thinking? or
how did he justify his actions
to himself, much less to us?

Did he think we'd be better off?
or that he wasn't good enough?
were we not good enough?

you can tell me otherwise
but no one can ever know

We are those left behind,
filled with questions that
can never have answers.
Forever with holes
in our hearts.
