Everyone Has to Die

Everyone has to die, I know you know that.
So why must I wait longer than I’d wish?

“You matter,” “I love you,”
What’s it mean to me when I’m gone anyway?

Maybe if I could live a bit longer I’d be able to see,
A bit of that sky that you tell me about,
Where the sun will shine on my face,
Send me warmth and then I can feel my heart beat for the first time.

Maybe it’s all I need is to find,
A little place of warmth in this freezing cold world.
Have you looked out the window recently?
People are colder than the snow falling to the ground.

Maybe there’s a reason I have only one desire left,
I still love to dream.
If this world we both hate were the dream,
We’d live in peace if we never woke up.

“Wake up, honey,” “I still care,”
Should I come back for a bit?

Everyone has to die, I know you know that,
But I think I’m going to wait a while longer.
