Glass of Being

Spilling over the rim of my broken glass.
Never half full, never half empty.
Just broken.
I stare at the mess and wonder what I did
To make it all fall apart.
But does anyone ever really know?

A rainbow doesn't exist without the rain.
A heart doesn't exist without the love.
And a life doesn't exist iwthout a reason for being.
So many things deemed with such little value.
Where has the time gone for us to live?
Pick up the pieces and watch me bleed.
My reason of being.

I'm not meant to be fixed nor whole.
Just broken and left to spill across the cold floors of Reality.
Leave me here and put away the broom of forgotten.
I don't want to go yet.

Step on me please.
I'll remind you of what it's like to live.
What's happiness without pain?
Stare at me and let me show you the lies I can tell.
You can hide so much when looking into a reflection.
This life is hard but I'll remind you of your glass of being.

So let me ask you this:

Is your glass half full...or half empty?
