Afraid Of The Dark

I have a friend,
My first in years,
However they’ve been here forever,
Without me knowing,
Hiding behind me,
Never in reach,
Just out of touch,
They have no face,
No Body,
No Mind,
But they stick by me,
No matter what the circumstances,
The only time when they disappear,
Is when darkness falls,
They can’t come out,
They can’t be freed from they’re prison,
They are trapped,
Behind bars of darkness,
That is the reason,
My reason for being afraid,
Afraid of the dark,
It takes away my friend.
